ONLINE TUTORIALS FOR EXCEL

Compiled by Bio-Link Staff

Here is a selection on-line tutorials that will help explain the workings of Microsoft Excel. Excel is an electronic spreadsheet program that is essential for the organization of large sets of data. It can also be used to analyze data and draw graphs.

General Introduction to Excel

The University of Rhode Island Department of Computer Science presents the first tutorial. The Department web pages include a number of basic computer program tutorials, but check out the pages on Excel. This tutorial is a step by step introduction to the Excel program. It starts with a general description, defines terms and gives a good explanatory background. It is designed to have two active windows open on the desktop so the user can switch back and forth from the tutorial to a live Excel workbook.

Beginning Excel - A Power Point Presentation

Marty Crabbs from Madison Area Technical College has prepared a Power Point presentation to walk students through the process of using and understanding Excel. This presentation can be used as a teacher's aide to familiarize a classroom of students on the workings of Excel. The students follow along with the introductions and the material as it is presented in Power Point. The slides cover all aspects of the program from manipulating the screen to more advanced features. Two presentations are included: Beginning Excel - A Power Point Presentation MS Excel Introduction includes plans for a five-lesson course covering the basics. Beginning Excel - A Power Point Presentation MS Excel Intermediate covers five intermediate topics.
