This book is the most useful general reference on GFP. It
contains the history of the discovery of GFPs, the current understanding of
the structure of the protein and of the structure of the fluorophore, and it
contains isolation and purification protocols. The two books below mainly
outline the many applications of GFP: for example, there are papers that
describe how fusion proteins with GFP can be used to localize proteins within
a compartment in a cell and to follow the transport of a particular protein
through the cell. JdK
