Clearinghouse - Contribute
Welcome! Thank you for your interest in contributing to the Bio-Link Clearinghouse. The following is information that may be helpful to you.
- If you contribute materials, you are giving permission for people to use your material in educational non-profit institutions. If your work is copyrighted it is still protected under copyright law. You agree it's OK for us to distribute the material to our "subscribers." Bio-Link does not own the materials that you submit to us, rather, Bio-Link has permission to disseminate them.
- In order to protect your rights as author, only a description of the material that you provide is posted on the website catalog for all to see. The full materials are available only to registered subscribers who use passwords to access the restricted areas of the web site and who state that they are educators and will only use your materials for educational purposes. Similarly, printed, disk, or CD-ROM material is sent only to registered subscribers. If a for-profit organization wants to use or sell your materials, they should contact you.
- You will need to make sure that your materials meet Bio-Link Clearinghouse criteria. (Details about the criteria are found in the Contributors Submission Form.) These criteria help to ensure consistency in our Bio-Link Clearinghouse. Note that some types of materials may be more appropriate for another web site than for Bio-Link's site. In general, we are looking for materials that are appropriate for students at the two-year college level or for the continuing education of graduates of two-year programs and that relate to the education of individuals who will be or are biotechnology technicians or bench scientists.
- You must be certain that the material you send us does not contain someone else's copyrighted material. For example, if your activity includes a photo that you copied from a book, then you must remove the photo and replace it with a reference to that work.
- Both the material's author(s), and your institutional representative(s) must sign the legal contract allowing Bio-Link to put your material into its Clearinghouse. This is because there is sometimes uncertainty as to whether instructional materials are owned by the educators who write them or by their institutions. Bio-Link cannot take responsibility for determining ownership of materials and therefore requires that, when materials are contributed, the educator(s) and their institutions(s) representatives both sign the contract.
