Certificates, Degrees, and Maps

Bio-Link faculty are an exceptionally creative group.  If there is a niche in the bioscience world, there seems to be a Bio-Link program ready to develop a certificate designed to fill it.

Bio-Link programs have developed 10 different two year degrees and 22 certificates.  The degree page has short summaries for each of these with links to descriptions.  The program data page shows a quick count of the programs that offer these degrees, along with links to tables showing all the programs that offer that degree.

At this point, you might be wondering how your program can add a description for a new degree or certificate to the site or edit the existing description.  Never fear!  We're here to help.

To add a new degree (or certificate):

1.  Look the list of degrees and certificates that are already on the site.

Could one of these descriptions be modified to fit your certfiicate or degree?

If so, you can log in, click the Edit tab, and modify the description right on the web page.  Or, write to us with your suggested changes and we can add your changes to the page.

If your new certificate (or degree) is different from the degrees (or certificates) in the list, it's time to add a new description.

To add a new degree or certificate:

2.  Log in to the Bio-Link site.

3.  Go to one of the pages below:

4.  Either paste your description from a text document or write it directly in the text area.

5.  Click the Save button at the bottom to save your work.

You can return to the page and review it before it's published by going to your Workspace and clicking the link to your unpublished page.

6.  Once you're satisfied with the description, select the "Published" option at the bottom of the page and click the Save button to publish your work.  Your description will not appear on the Bio-Link site until it's been published.

After your degree (or certificate) has been published, the title of your certificate (or degree) will appear as an option in the degrees and certificates table that appears when you edit your program page.

If you click the button for that degree, the new degree will appear on your program page with a link to the description.

6.  If the degree or certificate page has a map on it, a link from the description page to your college will appear automatically.  We haven't added maps yet to degrees / certificates that are only offered by one or two programs.  If that's the case for the certificate / degree, you can add a link to your college by typing the name of your college in the field labeled "Biotechnology Programs offering this degree."

When the site administrators see that multiple colleges are offering this degree, we will add a map to show where the colleges are located.

We also add links from the Biotech-careers.org web site to show prospective students where these degrees are offered.

Look for changes to the certificate and degree pages in the coming weeks as we start adding photos to help illustrate what programs teach.
