Stem Cell Certificate
Stem Cell Certificate programs provide students with hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture and adult or embryonic stem cell culture. Biotechnologists and cell culture technicians work with stem cells in a variety of settings including university research laboratories, biotechnology companies, and medical institutes. Individual programs in different colleges may have different emphases. Some, like City College of San Francisco, may focus on sophisticated research skills. Others, like Madison Area Technical College, may have a broader focus and include applications of stem cells in commercial environments. Most programs give students hands-on practice in using both microscopic and molecular methods to characterize the cells.
