Analytical Balance

SOP for Mettler Analytical Balance H51AR

1. Set all control knobs to zero.
2. Fully release balance (position 1).
3. Line up zero line with pointer using zero-adjustment knob.
4. Arrest balance (position 0).
5. Place tare sheet/container on pan and partially release.
6. Turn 10g knob until arrows appear on filling guide. Turn knob back one step. Repeat with 1g knob.
7. Fully release balance and allow optical scale to stop.
8. Return scale to zero by turning optical tare knob clockwise.
9. Set exact zero with zero-adjustment knob.
10. Arrest balance.
11. Place sample to be weighed on pan.
12. Partially release balance.
13. Repeat step #6.
14. Arrest balance and pause.
15. Repeat step #7.
16. Turn digital counter knob counterclockwise until next lower scale division is in alignment with pointer.
17. Read your result.
18. Arrest balance.
