GBTI - Summer Biotechnology Academy

Gwinnett Technical College The Georgia Bioscience Technology Institute (GBTI) Summer Teaching Institute assists high school and middle school teachers who wish to use biotechnology in their classrooms. In addition to practice with activities, GBTI provides teachers with classroom support, industry networking opportunities, student internships, and equipment loans.
GBTI is a collaborative effort between the Biotechnology Program at Athens Technical College and the Bioscience Program at Gwinnett Technical College. Both programs work to prepare students for work in the exciting Life Science industry.
Teachers will get hands-on practice with the following activities:
- Red Algae & chromatography
- Testing for genetically modified organisms
- ELISAs
- Microscopy
- DNA agarose electrophoresis
- PCR
- Microbes & health
- Bioluminescent bacteria
Lunch will be provided daily
