Hi Tec : High Impact Technology Exchange Conference
Date:
Monday, July 26, 2010 - 12:00pm - Thursday, July 29, 2010 - 10:00pm
Bio-Link sponsor(s):
Bio-Link National Center
HI-TEC is a national conference that highlights the best ways to prepare the existing and future workforce for the high-tech sectors driving our nation's economy.
Organized by a consortium of NSF Advanced Technological Education centers and projects, including Bio-Link, Hi Tec attendees include all with an interest in advanced technical education. Faculty, scientists, engineers, industry professionals, guidance counselors, and technicians are all expected at the Hi Tec conference.
Bio-Link's role in this conference is two-fold. We will be presenting a hands-on biotechnology / bioinformatics workshop in one of the preconference sessions and two posters, one on bioinformatics, and the other on Bio-Link itself, during the poster sessions. Our pre-conference workshop, "Biotechnology in the field," will be presented jointly with VESTA, an ATE center focused on training professionals for work in the wine industry. We will discuss the process of growing grapes and making wine and show how microarray technologies can be used to interrogate gene expression in the ripening fruit.
