The Biotechnology Program at Mesa Community College began training future lab technicians in 2002.  Over the past ten years, the prgram has developed a traditional transfer component to accompany its vocational aspect. Graduates of the program commonly transfer to universities where they leverage their training to join laboratories. 

The Biotech Pipeline to NAU is a 75 unit transfer articulation with Northern Arizona University (NAU).  Upon arrrival to NAU students choose their major from degrees offered in Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical Science, Biochemistry and Chemistry.

Graduates from this program have been employed by : 

Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGEN), Barrow Neurological, Intrinsic Bioprobes, Genosensor, Capstone Therapeutics, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Covance Laboratories.

Many graduates transfer to Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona where they join laboratories while completing their education.  Several graduates of the program have gone on further to complete graduate degrees in the field.
