Oklahoma City Community College has been educating and training students to be biotechnology laboratory technicians since 1998. Students take a rigorous academic program consisting of 67 credit hours which include the general education coursework in addition to biotechnology specific courses (including: Media and Solution Preparation, Biotechnology Laboratory I - DNA Technologies, Biotechnology Lab II - Protein Purification Techniques, Cell Tissue Culture).
We have graduated over 80 students so far (Associates in Applied Science in Biotechnology degree and Certificate of Mastery in Biotechnology). Our students find employment at biotechnology companies located in the Oklahoma City area. About half of the students graduating with an AAS in Biotechnology degree continue their education and obtain BS degrees in related life science fields.
