Director/Senior Director of Global Oncology Drug Development

Descriptions: Our Client is a leading biopharmaceutical company with its research, development and commercialization activities focused in oncology drug development.

Responsibilities: Drug development and lifecycle management is managed through a balanced matrix that uses a central project team model for all programs from late discovery through commercialization. The Project Leader will be reporting to the Therapeutic Area Program Leader within R&D Strategy and Operations. The function is to serve as Project Leader, leading Core Team Members of Development Projects. Responsibilities: • Aligning cross-functional project team to develop project strategy and goals that maximize asset value and reflect corporate strategy.
• Ensuring alternative scenarios are considered, including buy-up/buy-down and trade-off options.
• Assuring contents of Project Documentation (ie. presentations, key docs, IB, IND, etc.) reflect project strategy.
• Gaining buy-in of governance committee(s) on project strategy and ensuring implementation of decisions.
• Comprehensive understanding of resource plans and budget.
• Acting as project liaison between Line Functions, Sr. Management, and Alliance Partners.
• Establishing and maintaining a motivated high performance project team, and serving as a project champion and advocate.
• Facilitating conflict and issue resolution in projects. • Setting and overseeing project team strategy and development plans, and establishing supporting documentation • Understanding and aligning project strategy across Line Functions, Sr. Management, and any Alliance Partners • Incorporate analysis and assessments of project costs and resources
• Stay up to date with, understand, and report on non-clinical activities in development projects at team meetings; monitor
sub-team leaders and sub-team activity; and assure the timely completion of project commitments.
• Mentoring the Project Manager function, team members, and support administrative staff; sharing experiences and discussing common issues
• Facilitation of project related conflict, working with Core/Sub-Teams, Line Functions, and Senior Management as needed


Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills:
• 7-10+ years managing cross-functional drug development teams with a focus in oncology â€" NO EXCEPTIONS
• Global Development in a Major Pharma and/or Biotech â€" NO EXCEPTIONS
• Oncology expertise
• 5 years experience within the R&D area or closely related areas
• scientifically trained with MBAâ€" NO EXCEPTIONS
• Graduate degree (MD, MBA, Ph.D.) in a technical or scientific field or equivalent
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, planning, and oral & written communication skills
• Assessment of scientific data and respective conclusions are critical
