Responsibilities: |
Formulate rations and formulas for producers, custom formulas for animal nutritionists, and formulas for Western Stockmen’s standardized products. This is to be accomplished using available on site storage facilities, available on site ingredients, and commodities. The formulator will consult with livestock producers and nutritional consultants to maximize livestock production. To work with sales staff and production personal to maximize WSI/Land & Livestock/Simplot profitability with the inclusion of new products and programs consistent with Simplot Company goals.Essential Responsibility:
Develop and implement, on an ongoing basis, product strategies to utilize available onsite storage facilities, available ingredients, and commodities. Develop (in conjunction with Sales, Management, and Production) an annual marketing plan for each product line. Work in conjunction with Sales, Production, and Supply buyers to ensure inventory control, reliable supply, and net return profitability.
Provide sales support on an ongoing basis providing expertise and answering livestock feed questions. Provide timely information to sales personnel on livestock feed products.
Provide expertise to explore, evaluate, and develop opportunities for Western Stockmen’s new products and/or ingredients are being used and developed for niche markets. These new products can be used for new and different applications in the livestock industry.  Considering the use of these new products will provide new opportunities and markets for WSI

Qualifications: |
Knowledge of livestock feed ingredients and nutrition.Â
Analytical ability, make recommendations and decisions on a strategic level. Interpersonal skills; works with different groups. Have the ability to write reports, technical procedures, governmental regulations, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients customers, and the general public.
B.A. degree from a four-year college and five plus years related experience and/or training.
