We currently have a Biotech Scientist (Plant Transformation) position open at our Boise, Idaho R&D facility.

Responsibilities: Overview:
Follow your aspirations and join the J. R. Simplot Company in bringing Earth’s resources to life. Our small and growing Plant Sciences Department is a world-leader in all-native DNA transformation. It activates dormant traits and eliminates undesirable characteristics in crops by modifying the expression of one or several native genes. We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our Plant Transformation Team. The successful candidate will focus on discovery projects and also be involved in the commercial production of transformed plants. She/he needs to have experience in protoplast production and regeneration and in the Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of various crops. An ability to trouble-shoot and carry out consistent and systematic research, as well as good communication and organizational skills, are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the development of plant production systems based on the proliferation and regeneration of protoplasts;• Participate in commercial plant production;• Support further improvements of methods and standard operating protocols for plant transformation;• Efficient organization of data, and active involvement in presentation, publication, and patent protection.

Qualifications: Skill/Experience Requirements:
Skills & Experience Required:• PhD or equivalent with 3+ years of experience• Broad experience in plant tissue culture including protoplast work;• Ability to think critically and creatively across multiple disciplines with demonstrated problem solving skills;• Track record of working in multidisciplinary teams;• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
