Responsibilities: |
Kelly Scientific Resources is currently seeking a research associate within a vaccine development company in the Sanford, NC area. The selected individual will work within the fermentation and downstream process development group within a state-of-the-art Vaccine Development facility. This is a contract assignment already approved through July 2010.
Duties
- Perform scientific tasks related to fermentation and recovery in support of process development and/or scale-up operations in the Fermentation Laboratory.
- Cleaning, batch-up and operation of fermentors
- Perform in-process analytical testing using column chromatography supporting upstream biomanufacturing operations
- Recording of data in appropriate format and data compilation.
- Work under minimal supervision after initial training and be willing to work in shifts or beyond regular work hours as required.
- Train on cross-functional areas like purification to advance pipeline projects.

Qualifications: |
Job requirements
Education:
- BS/MS (Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering/ Biotechnology)
Experience:
- At least one year previous work experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry or equivalent is required.
- Experience in running experiments with automatic fermentors and upstream process equipment is preferred.
