Responsibilities: |
The Computational Biologist will be located in the Regenerative Biology Unit of the Morgridge Institute for Research working with the laboratory of Dr. James Thomson, Director of Regenerative Biology. This position is responsible for providing bioinformatics and computational biology support for all aspects of research involving the use of DNA sequencing with the Illumina DNA sequencer and related technologies. In addition, this position is expected to publish in the area of computational biology or bioinformatics. Sequence analysis work will center on analysis of transcriptome data (via RNA/seq), DNA/protein interaction data (via ChIP/seq) and other variants of the available sequencing technologies. Cross-disciplinary collaboration at the Morgridge Institute is expected and encouraged.

Qualifications: |
The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s Degree or equivalent work experience (Ph.D. preferred) and a minimum of three years of bioinformatics/computational biology experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and publications in bioinfomatics/computational biology in sequence analysis and motif analysis. Experience with the analysis of high throughput sequencing data, gene regulatory networks building and analysis, and systems biological analysis is strongly desired. Experience with grant writing a plus. A strong background in programming and statistics is preferred.
