Before you begin:
  1. Stir all buffers.
  2. Always rinse the electrode and temperature probe and blot dry. Do the same when transferring from one solution to another.
  3. Always use the temperature probe when calibrating or taking a pH measurement. This will ensure correct, temperature compensated measurements.

    Calibration:

    1. Turn on power switch located in back.

    2. Now remove the green cover at the bottom of the electrode.

    3. Press pH/degree C key so that pH is showing.

    4. Place the pH probe and the temperature probe in pH 7 buffer. Wait for the small triangular flag (located at the lower left hand corner of the LCD screen) to stop flashing.

    5. Press CAL key. CAL flag will flash.
Press pH 7 key. CAL flag will be stable.

    6. Rinse and use kimwipes to blot the probes.

    7. Place the probes into either the pH 4 or pH 10 buffer. Wait for the flag to stabilize.

    8. Press CAL key. CAL flag will flash.
Press pH 4/10 key. CAL flag will be stable.

    9. You have completed the calibration and may now take a pH measurement.

    Measurement:

    1. Immerse the electrode and the temperature probe into a sample and read when the flag is stable.

    2. Rinse again and blot dry.

    3. When finished, replace the green cover onto the end of the electrode.

    4. At the end of the class, rinse the electrode, blot dry, replace the green cover onto the end of the electrode, and turn off the power switch located in back.
