Biotechnology Student John Ramirez Wins at Howard Hughes Medical Institute!
"I would rate the SEA PHAGES Symposium as one of the greatest events I've ever had the opportunity to attend. The three days I was there were filled to the brim with panels by distinguished speakers (to include a Noble Laureate!) and attended by a group of researchers who all had an intense desire to know more about the world we study. I had the chance to meet many, many students like myself who have found a passion in this field and were finally able to speak to peers about some of the great discoveries they had made. I was very proud to showcase the work my co-authors and I were able to do in the last year at Del Mar College."
"The facilities at the campus were amazing. From the moment you pass through the front gate, you realize that you are in a special place! The researchers we met who lived on the campus, were all very happy and now I can definitely see why. The campus is a place where as a scientist you can have your everyday needs met (for your entire family mind you, not just you). This was done so that you as the researcher don't have to 'sweat the small stuff'. Instead, the researchers there can concentrate on trying to solve the worlds problems."
"I've honestly run out of superlatives to describe this trip, but if you ask me to sum it up in one word, I would say 'wow'!"
